Job Overview:
This individual will be responsible for designing and managing the overall solution architecture while providing hands-on technical leadership to development teams. The Solution Architect will work closely with developers throughout research, design, development, and implementation – guiding technical investigations, evaluating solution approaches, resolving complex technical challenges, and ensuring that development decisions align with the overall architecture. The role requires an architect who can both define the technical direction and actively help development teams execute against it.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture Design:
• Develop and implement end-to-end solution architecture for our software platform.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and solutions.
• Ensure architectural consistency and integration across all system components.
• Translate business and product requirements into clear technical architecture and implementation guidance for development teams.
Technical Leadership & Development Guidance:
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the research, design, development, and implementation lifecycle.
• Guide developers in evaluating technical approaches, researching technologies, conducting proof-of-concepts, and selecting appropriate design patterns and solutions.
• Work collaboratively with developers on complex technical problems, helping teams evaluate alternatives, understand trade-offs, and arrive at sound technical decisions.
• Provide technical direction during solution design and implementation rather than limiting architectural involvement to upfront design or final review.
• Review and challenge technical designs proposed by development teams to ensure alignment with the overall solution architecture, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability requirements.
• Mentor senior and junior developers in software architecture, system design, engineering practices, and structured technical problem-solving.
• Identify areas where development teams require deeper technical investigation and guide the research, prototyping, and validation needed before implementation.
• Conduct design and code reviews for critical components and provide actionable technical guidance to improve implementation quality.
• Remain actively engaged with development teams through implementation to ensure architectural decisions are understood and correctly implemented.
Technical Research & Innovation:
• Lead and guide technical research into new technologies, frameworks, tools, and architectural approaches relevant to product and project requirements.
• Assign and guide technical research and proof-of-concept activities within development teams, ensuring that findings are properly evaluated before technology decisions are made.
• Establish clear evaluation criteria for technical options, including scalability, performance, security, maintainability, integration complexity, cost, and long-term supportability.
• Translate research findings into clear architectural recommendations and implementation guidance for development teams.
System Performance and Scalability:
• Design scalable, high-performance, and fault-tolerant systems.
• Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks and performance issues.
• Implement strategies for system monitoring and optimization.
Collaboration:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Partner with Product and Project teams to identify technical dependencies, risks, and design decisions early in the delivery lifecycle.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Solution Architect or similar role in a startup or fast-paced environment.
• Strong hands-on software engineering background with the ability to engage deeply with developers on architecture, design, code, debugging, performance, and implementation challenges.
• Demonstrated experience technically leading development teams and mentoring engineers through complex research, design, and implementation decisions.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and microservices architecture.
• Ability to move comfortably between high-level architecture and detailed technical discussions with engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with API design and integration.
• Experience leading technical spikes, prototypes, or proof-of-concept activities to validate architecture and technology decisions.
